Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to work as a condition-specific Specialist practitioner in a developing and dynamic outpatient setting.
In this role you will be supported to develop your biopsychosocial assessment skills and interventional skills working with patients diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), who often have complex needs and co-morbidities. Your role will allow you to empower patients in self-managing their long term condition and maximise their function.
You will be able to engage in and develop multi-modal treatment pathways for patients referred by their Consultant to the CFS Therapy service and will also gain some experience in fatigue management working with patients experiencing Long Covid symptoms. You will be supported in your role by other members of the CFS multi-disciplinary team and the Therapy team.
The role will offer the ability to work flexibly within our friendly and supportive Therapy team at the George Eliot Hospital. You will also have the chance to increase your knowledge and CPD opportunities through the in-service training programme, as well as Trust-led and Trust funded training courses. In addition, you will receive individual mentorship by a senior member of the team to help with your personal goals - our moto being "Your Potential is our Goal".

- To work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical caseload, working without direct supervision.
- To take a role in supervision and teaching of junior qualified therapists and assistants within clinical specialty.
- To take a role in supervision and teaching of undergraduate students
- To demonstrate leadership skills and contribute to service development and monitoring of standards of practice

- Previous experience in specialist clinical area
- Band 5 rotational experience
- Contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent attendance at relevant post-graduate courses
Desirable
- Previous Acute NHS experience
- BAOT
- Involvement /membership in Special Interest Group
- Driving license and access to motor vehicle for work purposes
