Trainee Pharmacy Assistant/ Qualified Pharmacy Assistant
22.5 Hours Per Week

(days/ hours can be discussed at interview but can be flexible but must meet the needs of the service to the trust)
£22,383 per annum pro rata OR £16,787 per annum pro rata (75% of salary for the first 12 months if undertaking NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services)
Upon completion of the apprenticeship you will receive 100% of Band 2 salary.
Any internal NHS candidates already on Band 2 or already hold the relevant qualification will have their salary moved across and be exempt from the 75% pay scale. However completion of the Pharmacy Services Level 2 apprenticeship (or equivalent) and any relevant Maths or English qualifications is essential.

Main duties of the job
This will involve processing and picking pharmaceutical stock to be issued to the wards/ clinical areas in our stock distribution area, visiting wards to conduct a pharmacy top-up service and delivering medication to and from the wards on an ad-hoc basis. You will be using the pharmacy robot and JAC computer system, whilst maintaining a clean and tidy environment.
If you do not already hold and NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent), you will be required to undertake the Level 2 in Pharmacy Services Apprenticeship and be expected to hold GCSE's grade A-C or equivalent in Maths and English (be able to provide evidence), or be willing to achieve Functional Skills qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy as part of the Apprenticeship.

Job responsibilities
To receive and sign for all goods arriving at Pharmacy, check them against delivery note and copy order so as to ensure that they are correct (other than controlled drugs which must be presented to a pharmacist to check and sign receipt). To be able to identify problems with delivery and decide upon appropriate corrective action to resolve the problem in accordance with SOPs.
To record details of deliveries both manually and in pharmacy computer system so that accurate record and audit trail of correct goods received, batch numbers and expiry dates match delivery documents, any credit notes and any appropriate computer system generated paperwork, thus enabling rapid and accurate batch re-call and audit trail to be carried out by technical and professional staff, in case of product defect or checks by Finance department queries.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday - 9.00am to 5.30pm (with 1 hour lunch)
Rotational Saturdays & Sundays incl. Bank Holidays 9am to 5pm (with 30 minute lunch)
