Main duties of the job

George Eliot Hospital is seeking a part time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our stroke rehabilitation team based on the Felix Holt stroke unit. You will have the opportunity to be part of our friendly and supportive inpatient therapy team and undertake a leadership role within a dedicated and proactive stroke rehabilitation MDT.

Key responsibilities within the role include planning, co-ordinating and developing the inpatient rehabilitation service for stroke survivors; providing highly specialist physiotherapy assessments and advice; planning and delivering specialised stroke rehabilitation programmes; overseeing the development and running of group sessions; working closely with the MDT, stroke survivors and their significant others to set rehabilitation goals and plan complex discharges; providing leadership, support, training and appraisal to junior staff, students and assistants; and taking a lead on further development of safe and effective utilisation of the rehabilitation environment.

  • minimum 18months to 2 years post-graduate experience
  • Previous experience in specialist clinical area
  • Band 5 rotational experience
  • Involvement in audit
  • Supervisory experience
  • Contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff

Desirable

  • Previous Acute NHS experience

Qualification and personal Training

Essential

  • Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent attendance at relevant post-graduate courses
