George Eliot Hospital is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Locum Consultant in Genito-Urinary Medicine & HIV Care. This opportunity has arisen following the retirement of one of the GUM consultants at the George Eliot NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have experience and considerable understanding of all aspects of Genito-Urinary Medicine and HIV care.
This is a part-time consultant post based at the Integrated Sexual Health Department at the George Eliot Hospital and The Orchard Centre in Rugby. The clinical role of this post is to support Integrated Sexual Health Services across Warwickshire.
The successful applicant is expected to work with the current multidisciplinary team and keep up with good practice and targets set by the DOH, George Eliot Trust and other relevant organisations, to maintain and expand the access to clinics currently running. The post holder will provide care to the increasing number of HIV patients regularly attending the clinic and work as a member of the Warwickshire Integrated Sexual Health Department to deliver highly effective sexual health care across the county.
Main duties of the job
- To participate, and to take the lead when required, in the provision of general Genito-Urinary and HIV services and other relevant areas of integrated sexual health for the residents of Nuneaton, Bedworth, rural North Warwickshire and surrounding areas.
- To help develop the integrated GUM, HIV and contraception services across the county of Warwickshire in accordance with the George Eliot Hospital Trust Strategy for ISH.
- To actively contribute to the Trust programme for audit and clinical governance
- To actively contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and training
- To develop research interest
- To undertake all necessary administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients in a timely fashion.
- Participate in the continuing professional development scheme of an appropriate medical college and the Trust & University Joint Appraisal scheme. The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
- The appointee will be required to fully co-operate and participate with the Trust's appraisal and revalidation scheme, which identifies personal and professional development needs; agreeing plans for them to be met, while reviewing the consultants work and performance and considering the consultants contribution to the quality and improvement of service delivery.
