22.5 hrs per week ( on a rolling basis)
Salary - £32,306-£39,027 Per Annum pro rata

This role is open to Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapist and is a great opportunity to work alongside a dynamic MDT in the heart of our Acute Emergency Department.

Main duties of the job
There is a exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our REACT Team at George Eliot Hospital. George Eliot is an Acute Hospital based in the centre of the community of Nuneaton. The Hospital is undergoing some exciting changes with new Modular wards, Surgical units and expansion plans continuing to be developed
REACT is an emerging and expanding Team who are integral to the safe assessment and treatment of patients in our Emergency department and associated clinical areas. The REACT team are an essential part of the ED MDT and this role provides the opportunity to contribute to the development of the REACT team, the Therapy service and the band 6 Therapy role.
You will have the chance to increase your knowledge and CPD opportunities through the in-service training program as well as attractive Trust led training courses. You will be part of a developing Team and will find support through profession specific peer groups

- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
- To abide by the British Association of Occupational Therapists/CSP Code of Professional Conduct
- To attend multi-disciplinary case conferences/planning meetings to give feedback regarding Therapy intervention.
- To ensure beneficial and positive communication with clients, their families/carers and other professionals involved, respecting individual needs and promoting user involvement/decision making.
- PROFESSIONAL/ORGANISATIONAL
- To assist in the supervision and co-ordination of the Acute Frailty service Therapy Team on a day-to-day basis.
- To undertake, as directed, the collection of activity data to enable the Trust to monitor its performance.
- To ensure safe systems of work and ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, Safety Executive regulations and Occupational Therapy Service policies by staff.
- EFFORT:
- Carry out assessments and treatments of patients with varying degrees of disability on a daily basis, using moderate physical effort. This may involve moving and handling patients and equipment.
- To deal sensitively with patients and relatives who have high levels of anxiety and occasional aggression caused by frustration, trauma, disability, pain or impaired ability to understand or communicate and to enable patients to come to terms with chronic disability, on a frequent basis.
- EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- To undertake an active role in the maintenance and development of fieldwork education placements for Therapy students, and to supervise students on placement.
- To carry out the supervision and appraisal of Therapy Support staff.
- To undertake education of other disciplines about your profession, as required, in liaison with the Therapy Service Manager and other colleagues.
