Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the Womens and Childrens Risk & Governance Manager to co-ordinate patient safety and clinical governance activities. This will include undertaking and presenting findings and delivery of action plans from all audits undertaken within Womens and Childrens services. Other responsibilities will include development of guidelines, reviewing case notes, investigating incidents and near misses and analysing themes and trends from incidents and near misses.

You will be responsible for ensuring that midwifery practice is in keeping with current research by developing an evidence based culture and implementation of research and evidence based protocols and guidelines.

You will be an integral part of the governance team working towards a continuous improvement to the care that is offered and provided to the women, babies and their families.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years clinical post registration experience
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • Current clinical experience in acute hospital.
  • Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
  • A good understanding of current issues relating to the NHS.
  • Ability to evaluate effectiveness of learning activities and identify how it could be improved
