Main duties of the job

The role of OD facilitator will be to support the Foundation Groups OD function to provide a comprehensive organisational development portfolio of interventions including leadership development, team and individual development, coaching and engagement both virtually and face to face.

Job responsibilities

Purpose

This is a key role which will support a range of OD Development activities and interventions across the Foundation Group. The Foundation Group is made up of 3 similar Trusts across the West Midlands, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT), George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (GEH) and Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT). This role will be expected to work across all three sites, virtually and flexibly.

The post will act as the contact point in the support and delivery of organisational development initiatives within the Foundation Group

Delivery of Foundation Group wide organisational development training, on an individual basis or as part of a wider team.

Help support the operational delivery of the Foundation Groups leadership strategy, in helping to design, and deliver a suite of leadership and development programmes for all levels and grades of staff.

Work with external agencies including the Leadership Academy, Health Education England and the Central England Training Academy (CETA) in the marketing and promotion of organisational development initiatives run by the Foundation Group

To advise and update Directors and Senior Leaders within the Foundation Group on the available OD programmes and interventions to support their leaders in line with the Group Approach to Leadership.

Main duties and Responsibilities

Organisational Development

To support the design and delivery of all leadership and Team development programmes supported by the Foundation Group. To be the focal point for those staff members wishing to undertake programmes, providing advice, support and signposting where appropriate.

To participate as a trainer in the delivery of OD events, either delivering elements of programmes individually or with colleagues as part of a wider Foundation Group programme.

To collate, co-ordinate and disseminate external OD programmes offered by Health Education England, Local Apprenticeship opportunities and those programmes offered by the NHS Leadership Academy and other external providers as appropriate.

To lead and manage an annual programme of organisational development activity by ensuring all trainers and facilitators are available and supported to deliver these programmes. This will be achieved by providing an annual project plan together with named facilitators to deliver the programme

Support and maintain the Foundation Groups Leadership Development Programme Faculty ensuring there are the correct numbers of trained personnel to deliver programmes as required, particularly in relation to the NHS Leadership Academy Programmes and the Insights Programme.

Attend Leadership and OD meetings both inside and outside of the Trust as appropriate.

Administration

To lead the organisation and administrative delivery of all the Group's Leadership, Team Development and Coaching programmes ensuring all elements are covered, and the booking of internal and external training facilities, resources, refreshments and equipment relevant to the session

Ensure all OD training opportunities are communicated effectively with the Foundation Group including regular liaison with the communication and divisional teams.

Working with the Learning and Development teams across the Group, to input and update training records of all OD interventions including updated records held on external websites such as Insights profiles and NHS Leadership Academy 360 degree assessments etc..

Develop robust documentation, guidance notes and policies as appropriate to the development and ongoing delivery of OD initiatives.

To support and market the delivery of OD training programmes internally), which will include advertising these programmes within the wider health economy

Support the integration of equality, diversity and inclusion practices in OD ensuring that programmes are accessible and relevant across the full diversity spectrum.

Work closely with colleagues in local learning and development teams to align management and leadership OD interventions across the full range of development options for our people.

Work alongside colleagues in delivering and implementing relevant parts of the Groups retention and workforce strategies as they apply to OD.

Work with colleagues in OD to develop a robust internal and external coaching network to support colleagues in one to one interventions as appropriate.

Provide on-going support to participants including the co-ordination of action learning sets and focus groups etc.

To provide short-term cover for colleagues during periods of leave.

Essential

  • Degree in HR/OD or equivalent level experience plus CIPD qualification (or equivalent professional qualification) or equivalent experience plus additional training or specialist experience to diploma level or equivalent
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development

Desirable

  • Insights Discovery (or similar) accreditation

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience in a senior operational HR/training/organisational development role dealing with complex situations, change management, performance management improvement, OD and Leadership Development programme design and delivery.
  • Experience of working closely with a range of partners and clients at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience in design and delivery of specialist leadership and management training sessions / programmes / interventions on people related areas and topics.

  • Specialist OD knowledge (strategic national and local organisational development, staff engagement and leadership) up to date knowledge of strategic developments e.g. clinical strategies impacting on leadership, staff engagement agendas
  • Excellent project management skills required for leading long term and complex projects.
