An exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated individual has arisen at George Eliot Hospital as part of ongoing development and expansion of Specialist Palliative Care Services within Coventry and Warwickshire. The successful applicant will join us at an exciting time in Specialist Palliative Care with increasing integration with South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) to improve co-ordination of care and allow further development of services for patients with malignant and non-malignant life-limiting diagnoses across both trusts. Applications are invited for a full time, part time or job share Consultant in Palliative Medicine. Applications will be considered from individuals on the specialist register for Palliative Medicine (or within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of the interview).
Main duties of the job
The role will be predominantly based at George Eliot Hospital and will work closely with the current GEH consultants as well as other consultants across Coventry and Warwickshire. The team work closely with Mary Ann Evans Hospice, based next to George Eliot Hospital, providing a day hospice, hospice at home, bereavement care and lymphoedema services as well as the local Specialist Palliative Care Community team in North Warwickshire. Specialist Palliative Care beds are provided by Myton Hospice in Coventry and Warwick, Marie Curie Hospice in Sollihull, John Taylor Hospice in Erdington and LOROS Hospice in Leicestershire.
There is an established teaching programme for both staff and medical students which includes simulated teaching and receives excellent feedback. The post holder will support this programme as well as developing teaching for Warwick Medical Students.
