Generic Therapy Support Worker - Bromyard

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Support Worker to support the work of the inpatient therapy team at Bromyard Community Hospital.

You will be working with the Occupational & Physiotherapists based on the wards alongside the multi-disciplinary team to promote rehabilitation and the why not home, why not today ethos, enabling the best outcomes achievable. The team engages and supports national campaigns for example ending Pj Paralysis and the Discharge To Assess strategy.

The Therapy Services Department is committed to providing high quality, evidence based practice, utilising a therapy rehab area away from the main wards. We also have established and effective joint working relationships with the wider community services.

The post holder will need to be

  • An excellent communicator - both written and verbal
  • Able to engage and work with patients to support them to maximise their functional potential
  • An Autonomous practitioner and team player
  • Keen to learn and develop new skills

Part of the role involves liaising with community teams to organise services and delivery / fitting equipment in patient's homes.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, therapy support workers use developed skills under the supervision of registered therapists and may also work alone and with other non-registered therapy staff. Tasks and responsibilities include the direct delivery of clinical, technical or scientific activities following the completion of role specific competencies. Therapy support workers are able to make fact-based judgements and suggest treatment progressions to a registered therapist.

This role requires knowledge and understanding of facts, principles, processes and general concepts in their field of work. The post holder will carry out a wider range of delegated duties and will have responsibilities, with supervision and guidance available when needed. Post holder will contribute to service improvement and are responsible for their own development. Therapy support workers will carry their own caseloads that have already been seen by a registered professional, prioritise their own workload, and work with service users under a range of supervisory arrangements while undertaking routine processes.

The post holder will be required to complete the relevant competencies required for the post and participate in 7 day working. This post may include working with adults and/or children.
