Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist Post-Menopausal Bleeding

Wye Valley NHS Trust

The closing date is 06 April 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Gynaecology. We are looking for an experienced nurse who has an interest and passion for Gynaecology and who has a special interest in Post Menopausal Bleeding.

We have secured funding for a twelve month period to implement this post in order to support the Post Menopausal Bleeding pathway within the hospital and ensure that the 28 day faster diagnosis standard target is met and cancer is either diagnosed or excluded for women. Gynaecological cancers are the sixth most common cause of cancer in England, affecting more than 19,000 women each year, and the seventh most common cause of cancer mortality.

WVT is committed to ensuring that a streamlined and more efficient pathway will reduce overall waiting times, avoidable delays and the variation currently seen across the country. Alongside adoption of the best practice timed pathway, cancer alliances must ensure the appropriate resources and capacity are in place to deliver high-quality services to more patients.

Main duties of the job

In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team the post holder will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and management of adults with Post-Menopausal Bleeding.

The post holder will cross two specialities between the Gynaecology Department Oncology and Cancer services

The post holder will triage referrals, hold nurse led clinics to assess, investigate, refer to other healthcare professionals as necessary and to follow the Post-Menopausal Bleeding Pathway. The aim of the pathway is to give the patient an answer within 28 if cancer is suspected.

The post holder will follow up patients as required and liaise with the patient's primary care team to ensure that management is sustained
