Job summary

Proactively support the day to day delivery of an effective and efficient Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology information system (RIS) and Ordercomms across Wye Valley NHS Trust.

Deputise for the Radiology IT Manager in their absence thereby maintaining a constant level of service for all Radiology IT.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a PACS/RIS Support Officer in the Radiology department, providing technical and administrative support to radiology's IT systems as well as assisting the PACS/RIS Manager with problem solving and database maintenance.

The post holder will be required to help maintain and support existing information systems within Radiology and contribute to the implementation of new systems, upgrades and modifications to the PACS, RIS and Ordercomms.

The post holder will assist with testing of new imaging related software, new PACS, RIS hardware and also new systems or ways of working which may be implemented to improve data throughput.

Manage the housekeeping of PACS/RIS data with the radiologists/radiographers in a timely fashion. Administer the system on a daily basis to ensure correct and efficient operation

The post holder will be involved in auditing, fault reporting, troubleshooting and maintenance of the PACS and RIS databases.

Essential

  • Degree level education or equivalent specialist knowledge acquired through relevant experience, in either Diagnostic Radiography or Information Technology
  • PRINCE2 Qualification (or equivalent experience in project management methodology)
  • Competent in use of Microsoft office products e.g. MS Project/Excel etc.

Desirable

  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • ECDL

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Understanding of clinical pathways, multidisciplinary working and impact of access to medical imaging
  • Understand the importance of data, data structures, confidentiality and the use of data
  • Knowledge of IT systems and concepts
