Job summary

The housekeeper will assist the clinical staff in delivering a high quality service to the multiple ophthalmology areas; by providing housekeeping support to the Victoria Eye Unit, Retinal Unit, Cataract Suite and Ophthalmology Day Case Unit.

This involves a range of activities including managing stock rotation, ordering and taking deliveries.

Duties will include general housekeeping, unit maintenance, monitoring and any other related duties at the discretion of the unit manager in line with the unit requirements. This will be a supportive role aimed at promoting a positive hospital experience for our patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the department team to ensure that an excellent standard of cleanliness and tidiness is maintained. This includes all clinical areas, all medical equipment and additional equipment appropriate to the clinical place of work and as included in the ward cleaning schedules and room cleaning job plan: ensuring that all applicable legislative and Trust requirements are complied, ensuring the monitoring and reporting records are maintained, by observing infection control measures.

To ensure the maintaining & managing stores, stock rotation, ordering and taking deliveries, to enable clinical activities are undertaken with the right consumables. To employ a lean process, by adopting a system where there is no over stocking or ordering.
