Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapists to join our New Band 6 rotations. The rotations currently include - Community Falls Prevention Service - Inpatient Frailty Team (including inpatient falls) - Community Physiotherapy, with the hope to include orthopaedics at a later date.

As part of the Falls Prevention Service, a therapy-led team, the post-holder will work between both an outpatient clinic setting and in the community providing assessment and interventions to reduce risk of falls, enhance independence and quality of life.

Within the Inpatient Frailty Service, the post holder will provide specialist assessment and treatment for patients, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working at the County Hospital.

Community Physiotherapy post is a countywide service that provides support to individuals in their own homes, it include admission avoidance, discharge to assess and community rehabilitation work.

The post holder will maintain their own clinical caseload, and have the opportunity to play an active part in the development and daily running of the services, including in-service training, student education, clinical supervision, and health and service promotion.

Experience in falls prevention and frailty, or a breadth of experience in a range of clinical areas, is essential in this role, alongside a high standard of clinical and communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, Band 6 senior therapists use specialist skills in a variety of areas to provide direct high quality and effective therapeutic care and support to patients.

Within the scope of the role, the post holder will independently plan, complete specialist assessment and deliver interventions. They will be responsible for independently managing their own patient caseload, demonstrating clinical autonomy, specialist clinical reasoning, prioritisation and manage competing demands. Supervision is clear and direct from senior therapy staff and includes formal training, supervised sessions, advice and support.

The post holder will initiate and contribute to service development, demonstrate self-development and will be responsible for supervision of others and delegate appropriate tasks to registered and non-registered staff. The band 6 senior therapist will be required to participate in 7 day working and for physiotherapists to join the on call rota once competencies have been achieved.
