Job summary

As a Therapy support worker you will be working with the Occupational & Physiotherapists, alongside the multi-disciplinary stroke team.Depending on the applicants prior experience this position could be a developmental post from a band 3 to band 4 position.

The post holder applying for Therapy Assistant Practitioner Band 4 development will use enhanced skills in a specialised area to provide direct high quality and effective therapeutic care and support to patients including those with more complex needs. Within the scope of the role, the post holder will independently (unsupervised) plan and deliver individual or team tasks where the understanding of role boundaries and the importance of supervision and carrying out appropriately delegated tasks and plans is essential.

This role requires understanding, and factual and theoretical knowledge of principles, policies, protocols, procedures, processes, plans and concepts in broad contexts within the area of work or defined group of patients. Although work is guided by standard operating procedures, protocols or systems of work, the post holder must to able make judgements, plan activities, contribute to service development and demonstrate self-development. The post holder may be responsible for supervision of others and delegate appropriate tasks to other non-registered staff.

The post holder will be required to complete the relevant competencies required for the post and participate in 7 day working.

Main duties of the job

This role involves working with both the physiotherapists and occupational therapists on the Acute stroke unit, as part of the multi disciplinary team providing high quality stroke care.

You will be involved with delivering patient centred care in both the acute and rehabilitation phase of the inpatient pathway, with the overall aim of maximizing independence and supporting individuals to return to life beyond the hospital.
