Job summary

This role involves supporting the Medical Secretaries and the rest of the Clinical team, typing clinical correspondence to adhere to standard turnaround times for Wye Valley Trust and processing the patient queries for the Rheumatology Advice and Guidance Telephone/Email Service adhering to the departmental standard turnaround times.

The role is initially based in the Rheumatology department but there may need to be flexibility in working within the Division as service needs require.

Main duties of the job

Type correspondence, clinic letters, medical reports, etc using digital dictation and transcribe ensuring workload is typed in chronological order, prioritised, produced in a timely manner and to an agreed standard.

Taking Advice and Guidance Patient Helpline Requests from the Advice and Guidance answering machine and relevant email accounts, forwarding on the request to the appropriate Clinician and then actioning - e.g. typing letters, book appointments etc.

Answering departmental phone calls in a courteous and professional manner.
