Job summary

Macmillan Renton Unit is an outpatient unit, providing services such as Haematology, Oncology. Gyneacology, Breast Clinics, Urology and Systemic Anti Cancer Treatment (SACT) to patients within Herefordshire and surrounding areas.

We are a satellite site for Cheltenham hospital, which means we are able to treat our patients closer to their homes.

The post holder will be accountable and responsible for the standard of care provided within the Macmillan Renton Unit (MRU).

The hours worked are flexible by negotiation, agreed to suit the service and the applicant to ensure a good work life balance. The service operational hours in MRU are Monday 8-1900. Tuesday 8-1900, Wednesday 8-1900, Thursday 8-1800 and Friday 8-1800.

The most suitable candidate will be an experienced nurse with the ability to work autonomously at senior sister level. The ideal post holder would have proven leadership and management experience that demonstrates the ability to support managing a team to achieve the required governance and performance targets and compliances.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the development of patient centered care utilising available evidence based practice to attain this.

To promote good clinical practice and innovation through staff development and ensure that planning and implementation of service delivery achieved high standards of patient care.

To manage the day to day operational functions of the day-case and outpatient clinic facility of Macmillan Renton, ensuring that the nursing teams work efficiently to ensure appropriate support is given to all personnel who utilise the department.

To participate in the delivery of direct patient care, working at an advanced clinical practice level in relation to intravenous infusion therapy (including cytotoxic agents); assessment and management of patients prior to delivery of treatment; management of patients who become acutely unwell.

To demonstrate effective communication, utilising a range of strategies, to ensure agreement and co-operation within large diverse groups.
