Job summary

The Voluntary Services Manager is a newly developed fixed term post that in conjunction with other members of the voluntary services team will be responsible for the development, promotion, organisation, and management of all aspects of voluntary services across the organisation.

This involves ensuring the effective implementation and ongoing development of both the existing volunteer policy and in particular, new initiatives to support the optimal utilisation of volunteers. The primary focus is on providing a positive experience for volunteers, patients, carers, and staff while aligning with the organisation's objectives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder, in conjunction with the Patient Experience Manager will lead on a volunteer engagement programme which will mobilise volunteers to engage in a range of activities and roles which support a positive patient and carer experience at our hospitals.

They will be responsible for ensuring the Trust wide volunteer policy is regularly reviewed and updated in line with any national guidelines and policies to ensure a consistent approach to volunteering across the organisation.

The post holder will also provide guidance to wards, departments and divisions on volunteer and patient involvement, supporting staff to engage with the volunteer placement process to generate ongoing good practice in volunteer engagement and patient and carer experience

They will identify key quality improvement opportunities that can be supported by volunteers and liaise with relevant teams to develop these opportunities applying a quality improvement and service redesign methodology.

The post holder will liaise and work with external partners and agencies to maximise on the volunteer offer and ensure value at the Trust.
