Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Trauma Medical Secretary to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team within the Head, Neck and Orthopaedic Directorate.

This is a new role within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department, offering an interesting position working closely with our on call Trauma Consultants and our Trauma Nurse Coordinator managing the optimization of patient care through the entire emergency pathway.

The post will be a part time permanent position 30 hours per week working core office hours.

The successful candidate will require excellent organisational skills, demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, using their own initiative and be will to be adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the service.

Previous experience of a Healthcare environment is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Typing ward rounds/ Operation notes
  • Monitoring and action trauma email account - to include booking of appointments
  • Managing any referrals and liaising with clinicians
  • Monitoring urgent results that come through and disseminate to most appropriate sec / clinician (the radiology scans that will come through)
  • Adding patients to the pending emergency surgery list
  • Requesting Kit
  • IEP images
  • Managing DNA's ensuring they are rebooked/referral closed.
