Job summary
The Victoria Eye Unit is looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse to join our team in a busy Ophthalmology Department and Ophthalmology theatres. This is a constantly expanding speciality with many areas to develop knowledge and skills and expand your nursing skills within and outpatient, peripheral clinics, day case and theatre environment.
The ophthalmology department is opening a new purpose built cataract suite and we will require nursing staff that have ophthalmology theatre experience and general ophthalmology experience.
We are looking for the right candidate and will support with new learning and competencies to enable the best candidate to be appointed.
We welcome applications from individuals that hold a UK NMC registration.
Main duties of the job
To deliver patient centred care to Ophthalmic patients both adult and children.
To work within an Ophthalmology theatre environment as well as Ophthalmology Outpatients and Day Case.
Pre-assess and plan care for Ophthalmic day case unit patients, and deliver safe effective discharges.
Provide effective care for patients in a variety of settings within outpatients, day case and theatres.
Provide health education to patients and relatives, which promotes the health and well being of patients.
Achieve high standards of care in accordance with policies and procedures.
Deliver evidenced based nursing care, promoting best clinical and professional practice.
The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of consultants, speciality doctors, trainee surgical doctors, orthoptists, optometrists, imaging technicians and theatre team, to ensure continuity of care.
