Job summary
This role is for a General Ophthalmologist, with a special interest in paediatric ophthalmology. This is to allow expansion of a dynamic team of 6 existing consultant colleagues and to support a growing paediatric service. The post would suit candidates with sub-specialty experience in paediatric ophthalmology. This post is aimed at individuals who are also able to undertake a wide range of general ophthalmic duties, and who are able to fit into a team delivering a broad range of both general and sub-specialist ophthalmic care. A high level of competence in cataract surgery is essential.
This post is a substantive position, 10 PA , clinical commitment timetable is attached. 7. 5 PA's DCC and 2.5PA's for SPA.

This position will attract relocation expenses up to £8k (in line with the Trust Relocation policy).
Main duties of the job
The Consultant is in overall charge of patients and will allocate duties and responsibilities depending on the experience of their team.
The appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist will work in both general and specialist clinics and see new and return patients. The appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist will be expected to have a special interest in paediatric ophthalmology.
Surgical work will depend on the experience and interest of the candidate. A high level of competence in cataract surgery is expected. In addition the postholder will perform paediatric and adult strabismus surgery.
