Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available following the development of 2 new rotational B6 physiotherapist posts between the Falls Prevention Service and Inpatient Frailty Service.

The Falls Prevention Service provides multifactorial falls risk assessment and interventions for people at risk of falls and injuries, with the ultimate aim of reducing falls and injury risks, enhancing independent living, and promoting healthy and active lifestyles. As part of a therapy-led team, the post-holder will work between both an outpatient clinic setting and the community.

Within the Inpatient Frailty Service, the post holder will provide specialist assessment and treatment as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with the primary aim of assisting with patient discharge, and being able to sign-post to appropriate services and community teams. The successful candidate will play an active part in reducing Hospital Acquired Functional Decline.

The post holder will maintain their own clinical caseload, and have the opportunity to play an active part in the development and daily running of the services, including in-service training, student education, clinical supervision, and health and service promotion.

Experience in falls prevention and frailty, or a breadth of experience in a range of clinical areas is essential, alongside a high standard of clinical and communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. There may be some flexibility for full-time hours.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, Band 6 senior therapists use specialist skills in a variety of areas to provide direct high quality and effective therapeutic care and support to patients. Based on the role, the post holder will be based either in the Acute and/or Community Hospitals, outpatient departments or the community.

Within the scope of the role, the post holder will independently plan, complete specialist assessment and deliver interventions. They will be responsible for independently managing their own patient caseload, demonstrating clinical autonomy, specialist clinical reasoning, prioritisation and manage competing demands. Supervision is clear and direct from senior therapy staff and includes formal training, supervised sessions, advice and support.

The post holder will initiate and contribute to service development, demonstrate self-development and will be responsible for supervision of others and delegate appropriate tasks to registered and non-registered staff. The band 6 senior therapist will be required to participate in 7 day working and for physiotherapists to join the on call rota once competencies have been achieved. This post may include working with adults and/or children.
