Exciting training opportunity in Anaesthesia and Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine or Global Anaesthesia

This year-long bespoke fellowship post is personally crafted to provide training and preparation for the individual anaesthetist wishing to gain more experience in anaesthesia and undertake opportunities in pre-hospital emergency medicine or global anaesthesia.

This is the perfect opportunity for those interested to gain knowledge, skills and practical experience in pre-hospital emergency medicine, or global anaesthesia with the aim to advance their portfolio in preparation for future ventures.

The successful candidate will be immersed in a year-long programme in which their base speciality will be anaesthesia. Additional opportunities and training will be dependent on their stream (PHEM or Global). They will include opportunities such as paediatrics, trauma management and advanced airway skills, immersive in-situ simulations, teaching sessions, closely supervised practical clinical work on pre-hospital care platforms, clinical focus on adapting practice to resource limited environments and familiarisation with some of the equipment used in such places.

For the global stream, the post is UK based but the candidate will be encouraged to experience trips aboard which can be planned to reflect individual aims and interests this may be for clinical, teaching work or quality improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

The post at Wye Valley Trust will involve daytime and 1:8 out-of-hours working within the anaesthetic department. Candidates will be on one of the three tiers of on calls depending on their previous experiences. They will be closely mentored throughout the fellowship.

About us

Working for your organisation

Wye Valley NHS Trust is a member of an NHS Foundation Group with South Warwickshire NHS FT and the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust.

Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.

We are a progressive and forward-looking trust with ambitious plans to improve quality and integrate patient pathways through close collaborative working with our partners to deliver the quality of care we'd want for our family and friends.

More than 3,000 people work for the Trust - they tell us it's a great place to work, blending the busyness of a DGH with the benefits of working in a beautiful rural and unspoilt county like Herefordshire.

We can offer a great work-life balance and have a fine tradition of working with staff to help them achieve their full potential.

Russell Hardy, Trust Chairman: "The strength of the Trust is its amazing staff; a great place to work, a great place to develop your career and a great place to reach your potential."

Our values -Care, Accountability, Respect and Excellence - are at the heart of all we do. We believe in providing the right care in the right place at the right time...all the time.
