Job summary
Exciting training opportunity in Anaesthesia and Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine or Global Anaesthesia
This year-long bespoke fellowship post is personally crafted to provide training and preparation for the individual anaesthetist wishing to gain more experience in anaesthesia and undertake opportunities in pre-hospital emergency medicine or global anaesthesia.
This is the perfect opportunity for those interested to gain knowledge, skills and practical experience in pre-hospital emergency medicine, or global anaesthesia with the aim to advance their portfolio in preparation for future ventures.
The successful candidate will be immersed in a year-long programme in which their base speciality will be anaesthesia. Additional opportunities and training will be dependent on their stream (PHEM or Global). They will include opportunities such as paediatrics, trauma management and advanced airway skills, immersive in-situ simulations, teaching sessions, closely supervised practical clinical work on pre-hospital care platforms, clinical focus on adapting practice to resource limited environments and familiarisation with some of the equipment used in such places.
For the global stream, the post is UK based but the candidate will be encouraged to experience trips aboard which can be planned to reflect individual aims and interests this may be for clinical, teaching work or quality improvement projects.
Main duties of the job
The post at Wye Valley Trust will involve daytime and 1:8 out-of-hours working within the anaesthetic department. Candidates will be on one of the three tiers of on calls depending on their previous experiences. They will be closely mentored throughout the fellowship.
