Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, individual to join our existing team of imaging assistants in Radiology (no previous experience required) - full and part time opportunities available.

You will need to be able to work effectively in a team, often under pressure whilst remaining calm and maintaining professional boundaries at all times.

The successful candidate will need to be able to take part in a flexible shift rota that covers duties from 7.45 a.m. to 11pm covering a seven day week; evenings and weekends in rota.

The post on offer is primarily based at The County Hospital Hereford but will include some multi-site working at our community sites at Leominster., Ross-On-Wye and Bromyard.

Candidates will be expected to assist members of the imaging team in delivering a high standard of care. This includes fully preparing patients and associated environments prior to imaging, including patient observations (BP, O2 saturations etc.) and aseptic technique. This role will also encompass clerical, technical and caring duties as allocated under the direction and supervision of the radiologist, radiology nurse, radiographer or sonographer in charge of the area, and following Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.

Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS application (if this hasn't already been previously documented)

Main duties of the job

To work as part of one of the specialised teams within Diagnostic Imaging Services, encompassing clerical, technical and caring duties as allocated under the direction and supervision of the nurse or the senior radiographer/sonographer in charge of the area, and following Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.

  • Support the Imaging Department teams providing caring, technical and clerical duties.
  • Following Trust Policies and Procedures at all times, support the radiography / sonography and nursing teams within Diagnostic Imaging, under the supervision of the lead radiographer/sonographer/nurse in your area. Teams are inclusive of x-ray (plain film), fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Computerised Tomography (CT) and ultrasound.
  • Support the imaging team working a fully flexible shift pattern which incorporates duties that are currently working towards a seven day week. Shifts ranging from 07.45 starts to 23.00 finishes dependant on modality. Including weekends on rota.
  • To participate where required in multi-site working across Hereford County Site and Community hospitals in Leominster. Ross on Wye and Bromyard.

  • Completion of Care Certificate or equivalent experience to vocational qualification level 3.

Desirable

  • Educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths

  • Understands and complies with Trusts mandatory induction standards and code of conduct.
  • Awareness, understanding and compliance of policies and practices e.g. Escort Policy, Prevention and control of infection and Health and Safety. The post holder is therefore able to work within the scope of their practice under direct and indirect supervision by the registered nurse, radiographer or sonographer (training will be provided).
