Scrub Practitioner - Dermatology & Plastics
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Nurse or ODP to join our team. This is initially a fixed term/secondment position with part time hours available with a view to potentially becoming permanent in the future.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who can work in a fast paced and ever changing environment supporting the Dermatology clinical team and taking personal responsibility for designated tasks. The right candidate will be expected to have a professional, positive and flexible approach to their work.
The key elements of the role are:
- To act as a scrub nurse in minor surgery supporting both Dermatology and Plastics
- Assist senior nurses and clinicians in surgery and provide patients with information following surgery.
- To be able to demonstrate leadership skills within the surgical setting .
- Responsible for the safe management of medications
- Maintain high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the Dermatology and Plastics Department. You will be an integral part of the team working in an outpatient setting as a scrub nurse for dermatology and plastic surgical sessions. This involves collaboration between Dermatology Consultants ,dermatology nurses the administrative team and other departments. To accept the responsibility for the management/leadership of the department in the absence of the senior nurse. To participate in the supervision and teaching of staff and students.
- To undertake any other duties, required by the line manager appropriate to the grade and relevant to the post.
- To act on behalf of patients, carers and staff to ensure their views are represented
- To implement the local and national Clinical Governance agenda.
May be requested to work in other outpatient settings when required
