Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT) for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Sciences Department. We are looking for an enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist to work on rotation through our Clinical Chemistry, Immunology and Haematology sections to help us continue to deliver exceptional, high-quality integrated care to our patients.

The successful candidate will have:

  • HCPC State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist or working towards registration
  • A good understanding of a Blood Sciences Department
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for performing a range of scientific procedures on biological samples that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and to develop and maintain competency in all sections of the Blood Sciences Laboratory as required: Anticoagulation, Blood Transfusion, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Immunology.

A 24/7 service is provided for Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Clinical Chemistry. Therefore the post holder will be expected to fully participate in the extended core hours and shift system once competent.
