Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious Consultant Radiographer to join our Symptomatic Breast Radiology service here at Wye Valley NHS Trust, serving the people of Herefordshire and across into the bordering counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Powys.

We will also consider a trainee who wishes to expand upon already established advanced practice.This post is a newly created post and the post holder will support our Consultant Breast Radiologist in further developing the breast radiology service. The post holder will be a key member of the multi disciplinary team and work autonomously, adhering to Trust protocols and policies. They will be expected to use highly advanced clinical skills to provide a clinical opinion and diagnosis for patients.

The symptomatic service at Hereford also works closely with the Hereford and Worcester Breast Screening service.The role will include providing expert professional advice to medical consultants, other professionals, patients and their carers.For the trainee role, experience as a Clinical Specialist/Advanced Practitioner is essential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a team to provide an excellent level of care to patients, undertaking image interpretation, breast ultrasound, image guided biopsies and pre-operative localisation procedures and presentation of biopsy cases in the MDT.

They will work closely with the Consultant Radiologists and the Radiology Management Team in delivering a high quality, patient focused breast imaging service and be actively involved in clinical supervision and peer review.

The post-holder will work closely with other breast imaging and surgical colleagues, being well supported to make correct clinical decisions, this will be in formal clinic settings and at MDT.

In addition to clinical duties the post-holder will be responsible for the vetting of breast imaging requests, enabling patients to be imaged in a timely fashion whilst also making best use of available appointments and personnel resources, supporting service developments and redesign as appropriate.
