Job summary
The role of Specialised Cardiology Physiologist/ Clinical Scientist is to provide a high quality, patient focused, efficient Cardiac Physiology service within Wye Valley NHS Trust.
***Full relocation package of up to £8k will be offered with this post***
This is Band 7 post however, for the right candidate we would be willing to look at Band 6s who we can support to work towards meeting Band 7 grade.
Main duties of the job
Clinical and technical responsibilities:
- To act as an advanced technical specialist in the field of Cardiac devices demonstrating a high standard of technical proficiency in a wide range of techniques and providing technical advice as required.
- Achieve and maintain British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS) Certification (Devices).
- Participation in a weekly MDT with the device consultants (Dr French, Dr Glancy) to discuss upcoming implants and patients to be reviewed is encouraged (as we work closely with the consultants and other physiologists).
- Scientific knowledge acquired through formal training to Clinical Physiology degree or equivalent plus knowledge of specialist and advanced procedures acquired through CPD and/or accredited courses.
- Provide advanced scientific support during the implantation of pacemakers, CRT and ICD including the undertaking of defibrillation threshold testing and optimisation of CRT devices as instructed by the consultant.
- Provide comprehensive physiologist-led pacemaker and interpretation of ICD/CRT in inpatient and outpatient settings follow-up services, including device interrogation, prescriptive programming, maintaining accurate electronic records. This may include treating emergency patients from other centres or overseas.

- RCCP/AHCS registered or pending.
- BHRS/IBHRE Certification in part or full.
