Recruitment Incentive of £15K, Relocation Expenses to £8k
This is a full time post and we seek a colleague who can demonstrate their ability to work as part of our efficient and cohesive multidisciplinary teamand interact well with consultant colleagues, local GPs and dentists.
There is no on-call commitment attached to this job. The post requires a strong lead clinician to champion the speciality across the ICS and in the wider West Midlands Dental landscape.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will join the Dental Specialties Team as a Consultant Orthodontist to replace a retiring part time colleague and will be responsible for the care of the orthodontic patients across Herefordshire and surrounding and adjoining counties.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake managerial duties associated with the care of their patients and the running of the department and will be expected to participate in all facets of departmental activity. Regional Audit is arranged via a division of the COG in the West Midlands and entails a day per 3 months at varying venues across the regional units. Similarly engagement with the MCN is required for the post holder on an every 3 month basis.

The department is based within the Surgical Division, which comprises the Departments of: ENT, Orthopaedics, Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Surgery and Ophthalmology. The Orthodontic staff composes this post, and a part time Staff Doctor [ 6 PAs per week ] and a 2 PA per week Post Grad StR from the Birmingham Dental School Training Programme.
The Trust has a team providing Oral Surgery [on a dento-alveolar surgery basis], Oral and Maxillo-Facial surgery [ orthognathic surgery ] Restorative and special care dentistry as part of a dental and surgical MDT care. Clinicalsupport staff including experienced and qualified dental nurses and administration staff members are in place to support this post. Specialist laboratory services are provided from Worcester with a team of orthodontic technicians providing clinical appliance fabrication and planning for orthognathic cases.
The postholder will be encouraged to build strong links across the ICS for example with the Worcestershire Hospital Orthodontic Dept and Orthodontic Department at the Birmingham Dental Hospital to ensure highquality care is provided to patients locally drawing on supra-regional expertise as necessary, and will collaborate with and support the provision of orthodontics in primary care across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
