Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Speciality Doctor into our Orthodontic service.

This is a part time post but there is scope to expand the number of days available.

The Department is part of the combined Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and Maxillo-Facial Service with all clinics currently held in the Hereford County Hospital, but liaising with staff across Worcestershire and Herefordshire for joint working. A strong primary care specialist service is integrated with the secondary care services, and a stable GDS base locally provides excellent professional support.

There is the expectation that the successful appointee will be an active member of the Local Orthodontic network and will help shape the service as the ICS takes formal responsibility for the provision of the comprehensive service across the two counties. A full range of clinical activities are undertaken with full support of administrative, nursing and specialist lab support.

This post requires a committed clinician with a drive to play their part in the clinical and professional life within the county.

Fixed days currently Monday Tuesday and Wednesday 1/2 day but could look at alternate Wednesdays instead of a half day or similar

Main duties of the job

The proposed sessional commitments are detailed in the Job Plan section. The main duties and responsibilities of the Specialty Doctor are:

. To provide a high quality service as part of the Orthodontic Department to the patients of Herefordshire and the surrounding area using evidence based guidelines and clinical governance structure.

. Deputise for absent colleagues and in exceptional, unforeseen circumstances may have to perform additional duties to ensure the safe running of the department. Where such duties take place outside your normal contracted duties, you will receive either an equivalent off duty period or will be remunerated appropriately.
