Health Care Support Worker Permanent, Band 2 With the Opportunity to Undertake an Apprenticeship Programme

This is a fantastic opportunity to take your first steps into a career in the NHS as a Health Care Support Worker at Wye Valley NHS Trust.

We have a number of full time and part time opportunities available to applicants with or without previous health care experience, who are wanting to develop a career in health care.

Those without previous health care experience will be offered the opportunity to undertake a Level 2 Apprenticeship (15 18 months). This opportunity will provide valuable work experience and upon completion a recognised Healthcare qualification.

You will be given the opportunity to learn the skills and knowledge required to become competent in supporting patients across a wide range of specialties that include roles in both acute and community settings.

Applications from people with health care experience, will be supported with the potential opportunity to undertake the Level 3 Apprenticeship (18-24months).

This is a great opportunity to gain skills, experience and knowledge for those who may wish to pursue a future career in nursing.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work as part of a team, with support and guidance .

You will have scope to take responsibility for developing your own skills and demonstrate a commitment to learning.

To assist the registered nurse in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care.

To report any concerns to the registered nurse relating to standards of cleanliness,hazards and patient safety within the clinical area.

To ensure the registered nurse is regularly updated on patients condition and progress.

To ensure the equipment is clean and in good working order.

To ensure the environment is clean and tidy.

To participate with the induction of staff new to the clinical area.

To minimize hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager.

To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area.

To demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information.

To maintain confidentiality at all times.

To promote awareness of child protection issues referring to area child protection policy and Trust policy.

Attend child protection training in accordance with the policy.

To promote awareness of adult protection issues referring to the Herefordshire Multi-Agency Policy and Procedures for The Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Abuse.

Attend adult protection training sessions in accordance with the policies and procedures.
