Exciting Opportunity: Engineering Manager Role
The retirement of our current Engineering Manager has created an exciting and challenging opportunity for a forward-thinking individual to step into this high-profile role on a substantive basis. You will be joining an excellent, dynamic team that takes pride in delivering outstanding results.
As the senior mechanical engineer within the Trust, you will be responsible for a wide portfolio of mechanical engineering systems--ensuring they are safe, reliable, and maintained on time and within financial and statutory limits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing professional advice to the Trust, contractors, and consultants on all aspects of mechanical engineering systems, plant, and equipment.
- Working with Authorising Engineers and senior Trust leaders to maintain and update policies and procedures in line with best practice and statutory legislation.
- Acting as a senior Approved/Responsible Person across the mechanical engineering field.
- Ensuring engineering maintenance, including contract work, meets appropriate standards and specifications.
- Managing engineering maintenance staff effectively.

Main duties of the job
The role also includes control of on-site incineration processes, ensuring compliance with environmental controls and reporting mechanisms. You will be responsible for managing Water, Gas, and Steam services across the Trust, driving efficiency and cost-saving initiatives for each utility. Please note, participation in an on-call rota for out-of-hours support is required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and effective use of the Planet Enterprise system.
- Familiarity with other Estates software packages is desirable.
- Extensive experience in mechanical systems and managing an operational department.
- A relevant Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
- Membership of a professional engineering institution would be advantageous.
