The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust

Assistant Practioner Pelvic Health

The closing date is 16 November 2025

Job summary

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Assistant Practitioner to join our dynamic Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS). This vital role supports the delivery of high-quality pelvic health education and preventative care for women during pregnancy and throughout the postnatal period.

As part of a small, dedicated team--including a Physiotherapy Lead, Specialist Midwife, and Project Administrator--you will help improve pelvic health outcomes across the Black Country and West Birmingham region. Your contribution will be central to reducing long-term pelvic floor dysfunction and enhancing the physical and emotional wellbeing of women and their families.

The role involves facilitating group-based pelvic floor and Pilates classes, delivering pelvic health education sessions both face-to-face and online, and supporting the implementation of innovative service developments. By March 2026, the PPHS will launch a single point of access and self-referral digital platform, and you will play an active role in shaping and embedding this exciting new pathway.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in women's health, working collaboratively to empower service users with the knowledge and support they need for lifelong pelvic wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

Deliver Pelvic Health Education Sessions Facilitate engaging and informative pelvic health education sessions for antenatal and postnatal patient groups, both in-person and via online platforms.

Lead Postnatal Exercise Classes Independently deliver postnatal pelvic floor and Pilates classes, promoting recovery and long-term pelvic health.

Patient Communication and Support Speak with patients by phone to gather relevant information, provide basic pelvic health advice, and discuss appropriate referral pathways--under the supervision and guidance of pelvic health physiotherapists.

Collaborate Across Trusts Build strong working relationships with maternity staff across all four partner Trusts, supporting the implementation of PPHS messaging and best practices region-wide.

Team Participation and Strategy Development Actively contribute to regular PPHS team meetings, playing a key role in shaping service strategy, development, and innovation.

Support Digital Pathway Integration Assist in the rollout and integration of the new single point of access and self-referral digital platform, ensuring the Assistant Practitioner role is embedded within the evolving care pathway.
