Are you an experienced MPE in nuclear medicine? Then join us in making a difference in patient care through excellence in nuclear medicine physics
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced clinical scientist to lead our Nuclear Medicine Physics Service, manage resources within the section and advance the nuclear medicine physics service in line with national standards and innovations. You will oversee approximately 10 clinical scientists, technologists, and radiopharmacy technicians who are committed to prioritising patient care. In this role, you will also be supported by the senior management team within the wider Department
MPCE provides physics support to one on-site CT gamma camera as well as one at another site, who both offer a wide range of imaging procedures. Medical Physics directly manages the non -imaging diagnostic and MRT service and is about to commission a brand-new state of the art radiopharmacy.
A minimum requirement is to be a MPE in nuclear medicine physics. Strong scientific skills are vital to ensure the precise and safe delivery of nuclear medicine procedures through outstanding physics support.
However if you are an experienced MPE in nuclear medicine but do not meet all the criteria for the position, we will consider appointing on band 8C Annex 21 with a structured development plan. We have a strong track record of supporting managerial and leadership training.We will also support the successful candidate to achieve RWA/RPA certification
Main duties of the job
You will oversee and lead the nuclear medicine physics service which is part of a multi disciplinary team (including both Oncology and Radiology).The physics service provides support to the Trusts gamma camera which is operated by staff in the Radiology Department. The service also provides support to the nuclear imaging service at Walsall manor Trust which also has one gamma camera. Scientific support for the sentinel lymph node service is provided for both organisations
The nuclear medicine section in medical physics directly manages the molecular radiotherapy physics services (including I-131 and Ra-223), a number of diagnostic non-imaging procedures and radiopharmacy services.
The post is responsible to the head of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering , and you will be responsible for strategic service development , leadership of the section, manage the budget allocation for pay and non-pay of the section, manage radiation protection within the section.
