Job summary

Working within the General Surgery Department, specifically within the Colorectal team.

Partaking in the General Surgery Directorate on call rota alongside Consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to provide a service in General Surgery.

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department. This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents.

To provide cover for Consultant and Senior colleagues in respect of periods of leave.

To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

The post-holder will contribute to the General Surgery service, including elective theatres, clinics, on call duties.

Essential

  • Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC
  • On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of interview
  • MRCOG

  • Higher Medical Degree

  • Relevant research published in peer review journal
