With our expanding service an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic qualified Clinical Photographer with an exceptional portfolio to join our existing team of 7 Clinical Photographers, based in Wolverhampton. We provide a comprehensive clinical and non-clinical illustration service to The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, and also the Princess Royal Hospital Telford, The Shrewsbury Hospital and Walsall Health Care where the successful candidate would be rostered to work on each of these sites when service levels demand.
Providing Clinical Illustration services including Graphic design, Animation and print to group of major general hospitals, as well as a wide range of Clinical photography and video services, we also provide specialised imaging to all clinical specialities including (but not limited to) Dermoscopy, dermatology, Tele dermatology, orthodontics, ophthalmology, diabetic retinal screening and ENT etc. The department is an integrated clinical support department offering a formal, emergency on call service to our clinical users.
As well as clinical services we also deliver a wide range of photography and video services to support training, education and promotional projects throughout the Trusts that are part of this very varied job.

Main duties of the job
You will ideally have a minimum of 6 months post qualification experience in medical photography although consideration will be given to newly qualified candidate. Appropriate training will be provided. If you're not a qualified Clinical Photographer but have a degree in photography, a passion to make a difference in health care and looking for a challenging and rewarding career, and are prepared to undertake a post graduate certificate in Clinical Photography that will be funded, please also apply.
You will need to work without supervision and as well as having good organisational skills have the following:BSC in Medical Illustration or equivalent

Job responsibilities
Accurately capture stills and video images of clinical conditions and non-clinical requests. Provide advice to users, as and when necessary regarding illustration solutions.
The post holder will need tobe able to communicate information concerning consent, confidentiality, distribution, copyright, and security, This will include having to accommodate patients views and preferences with regard to cultural and religious differences.
Hold full professional membership of the Institute of Medical Illustrators and AHCS registration.
Provide illustrative advice and recommendations to medical staff to ensure that clinical conditions are recorded using the most appropriate views / techniques so enabling satisfactory assessment of such clinical conditions.
Use professional judgement and experience to interpret complex information from clinical request form, provide clinicians with high quality clinical photographs and videos for all specialist areas such as Orthodontics, Maxillofacial, Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. These images will be used for clinical assessment, patient records, teaching, publication and research.
Post capture processing of images using specialised software for image manipulation, page layout and digital asset management. This will include; page layout of templates, colour correction, cropping, exposure etc and uploading onto Clinical Web Portal.
Edit video using digital non-linear editing systems.
Undertake Ophthalmic imaging techniques such as Fluorescein Angiography and Optical Coherence Tomography and Diabetic Retinopathy Screening.
Follow department policies and protocols, and the Professional Code of Conduct of the Institute of Medical Illustrators to ensure a high standard of work and professional attitude is maintained at all times.
