Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and dynamic senior pharmacist with excellent communication skills to lead a clinical pharmacy service to our Surgical Services directorate. You will be joining our existing team of pharmacists and technicians supported by the Principal Pharmacist for Surgical (Division 1) and working closely with our team of senior clinical pharmacists.
The successful candidates will need to have experience in working within surgical specialties, possess experience in service delivery and management, and a proven record of delivering effective change within dynamic environments. Applicants must be registered with the GPhC, have a broad range of hospital pharmacy experience and have or be working towards a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent; an independent prescribing qualification is desirable. The post holder will be encouraged to use the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework to support their development, with guidance from our Principal Pharmacist for Education and Training.

Main duties of the job
To provide an expert level of clinical pharmacy services to wards and departments caring for adult patients who present to surgical services.
To lead specialist clinical pharmacy practice for surgical services and be responsible for the delivery, development, evaluation, and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the RWT pharmacy strategy.
To be responsible for all aspects of medicines management to optimise patients' care involving the use and re-use of medication.

Promote the safe, appropriate, and economic use of medications both within the pharmacy department and on the wards.

Implement local and national guidelines where appropriate e.g. NICE.
To support the Trusts Medication Safety Officer and Pharmacy Governance lead with the medicines optimisation and governance agenda.
Participate in the training of pharmacists, ward-based technicians, undergraduate students, doctors and nurses.
Take part in extended hours, weekends, and bank holiday out of hours services as required by departmental rotas.
