Job summary
The Estates and Facilities Department at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is looking to recruit an experienced Deputy Mechanical Engineer who will work as Deputy to the Trusts Engineering Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team and on a wide range of mechanical infrastructure delivering positive improvements to the Healthcare Estate and providing a safe and compliant environment for patients, staff and visitors at various sites.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work across all sites providing cover for the Engineering Manager as required to operate and maintain the Trusts ventilation, medical gas, steam, Water, heating, plant and associated mechanical systems and permits. They will work closely with the operational teams for the safe delivery of maintenance to the standard prescribed by the Engineering manager to achieve outstanding NHS PAM results. In the absence of the Engineering manager be authorised signatory, budget holder and any other duties as required.

The role will also support mechanically integration and delivery of estates and capital new build/refurbishment projects ensuring Trust & Industry standards are maintained as well as resilience & maintainability of engineering systems. Where required will participate in the on-call rota, sole responsibility for managing emergency situations for the Trust out of hours. Manage any emergencies that may arise that could have an impact on the trust as a whole i.e. medical gas issues, steam failure, fire and fire alarms, oil and fuel spillages etc.
Experience is vital for the role being mechanically bias having knowledge of water safety, ventilation, medical gases and steam systems is essential. You will be required to work up to S-AP level and be able to demonstrate these skills being self-motivated and an excellent communicator.
