Job summary
Clinical Fellowship Programme - Trauma & Orthopaedics
Suitable for UK and overseas doctors seeking clinical experience, a high quality training programme, enhanced qualifications and career progression. Appointments are for two years and are being offered at Core Trainee level according to experience. Appointment would be at a grade based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
These posts will be tailored to suit doctors at different stages of their career including:
Doctors who have completed their basic medical degree (MBBS and theFoundation Programme, or 2-3 years of overseas clinical experience post qualification/post registration (Clinical Fellow level)
Doctors seeking to enhance their portfolio to gain entry to the training grades
Doctors already in non-training Grade positions eg. SAS doctors or Trust Fellows who are seeking a formal educational structure to their posts and wish to pursue higher qualifications built in to the these post
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the Placement
- Daily Ward Round
- Ward Care of Acute Trauma Admissions
- Exposure to Theatre
- Pre-Op and Post-Op
- Management of Elective Orthopaedic Surgery
Successful applicants will work in a dynamic friendly environment. Although the posts are of non-training grade, there would be direct Consultant supervision and an educational programme including annual appraisal, 4-monthly supervisor meetings, access to an e-portfolio, study leave and a study leave budget. There will be a specific programme of protected teaching and a wide range of other clinical trainingactivities.
Post holders will be strongly encouraged to register for a Masters qualification in surgery or one of its sub-specialties with our partner Postgraduate Medical School. Subject to satisfactory progress, this will be fully funded and protected time will be allocated. As part of this it is expected the post holder will undertake a clinical project leading to presentations at meetings and publications.
