Exciting opportunities have arisen for the appointment of permanent Consultants in Obstetrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Trust. We are looking to fill at least 2 posts and will consider candidates interested in both full time and part time working.

Main duties of the job
All high risk obstetrics services are provided at New Cross Hospital, where there is a large level 3 NICU, HDU and ICCU available for both mothers and babies. There is also a co-located midwifery-led birthing unit (MLU). The Obstetric Service provides Fetal Medicine, Maternal Medicine and Advanced Antenatal Services. There are a full range of antenatal, fetal medicine and maternal medicine clinics. The department is supported by specialist obstetric anaesthetists and an obstetric physician and has access to the full range of the Trusts diagnostic and screening services. There are currently 8 dedicated obstetricians, 11 consultants in obstetrics/gynaecology, and 5 gynaecologists 3 of who are specialist oncologists. The department is fully staffed with a mix of trainees with national numbers and clinical fellows with a 2 tier registrar rota supported by SHO level and foundation trainees.

The Trust is committed to the further development of its' Maternity Services and is currently investing in the Directorate to ensure continuing clinical excellence against a backdrop of increases in the number of annual births and complexity of pregnant women with a range of maternal and fetal problems. The Trust is also a Gynaecology Oncology tertiary centre, with one stop fast track diagnostic services and robotic surgery capability.
New Cross Hospital is a large Teaching hospital of the University of Birmingham Medical School and also has academic links to the University of Wolverhampton. We are also involved in delivering advanced training to specialty registrars from Health Education West Midlands, and clinical/research fellows in fetal medicine, maternal medicine, benign gynaecologic surgery, ambulatory gynaecology, gynaecological oncology and colposcopy.
