Applications are invited for a full time, permanent Consultant Community Paediatrician.
We are seeking a full-time Consultant Community Paediatrician to become an integral part of our team of experienced Community Paediatricians providing a wide range of Community Paediatric Services.
We serve a diverse, young population and have excellent relationships with partners across the city.
We have close links with our acute/general paediatric colleagues in the trust and the wider health team.
The post holder will be expected to have broad experience in all aspects of community paediatrics and be competent to assess diagnose and manage neurodevelopmental disorders and disability.
The post holder should also be competent to assess children in whom abuse or neglect has been suspected.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic full-time Consultant Community Paediatrician to be an integral part of the team of experienced Community Paediatricians providing a wide range of Community Paediatric services. The post holder will be expected to have broad experience in all aspects of community paediatrics and be competent to assess, diagnose and manage neurodevelopmental problems and disability. He/ She should be competent to assess children in whom abuse or neglect has been suspected.
The vacancy is for a 10 PA per week post.
Candidates are expected to be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT. While a CCT in Community Child Health (CCH) is not essential, the CSAC recommends that all Consultant posts should require it, as this shows the applicant is fully trained for independent practice in CCH. If they do not have a CCT in CCH, the applicant must be able to show how they have acquired the Level 3 competences.

The Gem Centre is a highly regarded centre for training and would offer the opportunity to develop further subspecialty experience within Community Paediatrics. The Gem centre is a purpose built state of the art centre bringing together specialist Children's services on one site enabling fantastic multidisciplinary working. Community Paediatricians in Wolverhampton also have very close working relationships with multiagency partners across the city. The post holder would also be expected to participate in the formal teaching of junior medical staff and medical students.
