This is the post for you!
This is a 12 month regional simulation post specifically designed for the Middle Grade Trainee with an enthusiasm for teaching.
There will be three days per week for simulation training and 2 days per week in Acute Paediatrics on the Middle Grade rota.
Main duties of the job
You will be directly involved with the delivery of the regional courses Stepping up to middle grade (ST3), returning to work, ST1 Skills day and the SUDI course.
In addition you will have access to all the other high fidelity courses held in SIM Ward Wolverhampton, and will develop expertise in simulation as an educational tool. You will become expert in conceiving, designing, organising, running and debreifing high fidelity simulation. In addition you will gain skills in in situ-simulation, regularly running this in Paediatrics, Neonates and Paediatric ED.
This post will also provide the successful applicant with experience in our Paediatric department. The post-holder will be expected to participate in the middle grade on-call rota to cover General Paediatrics during the day and overnight (partial shift system) Those working full time in this rota do not work more than 48 hours weekly.
About us
The post may allow the post-holder to gain experience in a sub-specialty of general paediatrics working alongside one of the consultants. Opportunities to be involved in research are also available and we would support the development of a feasible local research project.
Previous successful post holders have been supported in a higher degree relating to Medical Education and specifically Simulation.
The Fellow will receive clinical and pastoral supervision as for other middle grade doctors.
