Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new consultant post with a special interest in Knee and Sports Injury Surgery at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be part of the Knee and Sports Injury team, who treat all knee conditions including developmental disorders, sports injuries (both amateurs and professionals), traumatic knee injuries and degenerative joint disease.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for those patients referred to their care and will undertake clinics, pre-operative assessment, operating lists and ward rounds.

Interested candidates will be listed on the GMC's Specialist Register for Trauma and Orthopaedics (or be within 6 months of being at the time of interview) and have completed an appropriate post-specialist registration fellowship (minimum 12 month duration).

Desirable

  • Higher degree eg MD/PhD

Experience and specialist knowledge

Essential

  • All round orthopaedic experience.
  • Twelve-month post-specialist registration fellowship in sub specialty.
  • Fully trained in the generality of knee surgery.

Desirable

  • Independent surgical practice in core Knee procedures (ACL/TKR/UKR)
  • Subspecialist interest in patellofemoral surgery

Audit, Research and Teaching

Essential

  • Understanding of principles of audit and demonstrates recent leadership of audit, process and outcomes.process and outcomes. (including process, outcomes and change in practice)
  • Proven teaching skills and commitment to training of junior doctors.
  • Understands the principles and applications of clinical research and lists recent research publications and presentation of papers in knee surgery
