We are currently recruiting Cleanliness Technicians who are looking for the ability to work flexibility or to work some additional hours, to register to join our bank of Temporary Workers as Cleanliness Technicans.
Joining our bank will enable you to support the Trust is providing a high quality cleaning services across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
Cleaning in ward and department across the hospital, including cleaning areas such as corridors, offices, stairs, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, on a frequent basis using a variety of cleaning techniques and working to NHS and Trust policies to achieve the standards of cleanliness required.

Job responsibilities
- To organise own day to day activities to ensure the cleanliness of the area you are assigned to under the direction of the Housekeeping Manager or Deputy. This will include cleaning areas such as corridors, offices, stairs, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, theatres and bedrooms on a frequent basis using a variety of tasks and procedures including: damp dusting all horizontal and vertical surfaces, high and low cleaning, replenishment of disposable items, emptying of waste bins and deep cleans (where applicable)
- Work to NHS and Trust policies and standards of cleanliness and the required work frequencies as per the Work schedules provided.
- To ensure the correct use of chemicals for the type of surface and finish, making certain the handling, storage and safe usage are in line with the COSHH regulations, data sheets and training given.
- To adhere to all aspects of Infection Control in all areas of work, including the use of colour coded equipment to ensure there is no spread of infection.
- Responsible for observing and monitoring the condition of the environment you clean and report any defects that will prevent you from carrying out your duties via the Trust Estates reporting mechanism.
- Responsible for assessing the condition of all equipment you use and report any defects observed to ensure its continued quality and safety and reporting defects via the Trust Estates reporting mechanism.
- Responsible for maintaining clear and accurate records providing documentary evidence that cleaning has taken place
- To respond to any actions that may arise from cleaning monitoring audits and surface swabbing audits.
- To adhere to the outlet flushing regime set out by the Trust to minimise the accumulation of Legionella bacteria in water systems in accordance with relevant technical guidance.
- Responsible for reporting of incidents, accidents and near misses that occur at work via the use of Datix.
- To ensure that all work is carried out in strict accordance with the handling and moving training received to ensure your personal health and safety and that of others.
- To ensure all tasks are completed using the risk assessments and safe systems of work as instructed by your Housekeeping Manager or Deputy.
- To ensure patients privacy and dignity is maintained throughout your work
- To carry out your duties adhering to the Lone Working procedures as per the training given by your manager.
- Report any problems that might arise from your duties.
- Responsible for ensuring security of stock whilst also monitoring and managing the stock levels and re-ordering on a weekly basis or as required.
- Undertake surveys as part of own role, including review/testing of new equipment.
- Ensure that the assigned area of work is left secure by ensuring that where necessary all windows and doors are closed or locked, alarms are set and that lights are turned off.
- Co-operate fully when new methods of work or frequencies of cleaning are introduced.
- Demonstrate own activities/tasks to new employees on a work shadowing basis.
- Act as a liaison for the service by responding to ad hoc requests via the trusts paging system.
Physical Skills
- Physically utilise cleaning equipment such as; pushing vacuum cleaners and trolleys, lifting buckets, mopping floors and operate cleaning machines on a frequent basis.
- Safely move small items of furniture on a regular basis in adherence with Trust procedures to facilitate cleaning procedures.
- Safely move bags of linen and waste bags on a regular basis in adherence with Trust procedures.
- The post holder has a legal duty to take reasonable care to avoid injury to themselves and to others by their work activities or omissions, and to co-operate with their employer in the discharge of their statutory duties.
- Concentration is required when preparing cleaning chemicals ensuring that the correct dosage and dilution ratios are strictly adhered to. This is essential to ensure the efficacy, quality and sustainability of the products used.
- Ensure that you place hazard signs to warn other users of the area in which you are carrying out a cleaning task.
- Ensure that you never leave any piece of equipment or machinery unattended where it could be a source of danger to patients, staff, carers and visitors.
