We run a Shropshire wide service for patients based on a Hub and Spoke model with Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital as the Hub and various other sites (spokes) within the county from where we offer our service to patients.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant Rheumatologist who will contribute to the provision and development of our high quality service. Sessional commitments will include outpatient clinics at RJAH and a number of outreach sites, review of inpatients, and multidisciplinary clinical meetings.

There is also an opportunity to develop a special interest in Metabolic Medicine and to be part of the consultanton-call rota, but this is not essential.

Main duties of the job

Our Rheumatology team consists of seven experienced consultant rheumatologists, three specialty Doctors and six clinical nurse specialists. We also have support from specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and a specialist Rheumatology Pharmacist.

Our Rheumatology team is the lead provider for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin providing services at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Gobowen, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, The Princess Royal Hospital Telford, Euston House Telford, Ludlow Community Hospital, Whitchurch Community Hospital. Additionally, we also provide an outreach clinic in Newtown Powys.
