This is a fixed term role for a 9 month period providing maternity leave cover.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Medical Photographer, to join the Medical Illustration team at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills to join our small, friendly and busy team in delivering a comprehensive visual communications service to the Trust.
You will be required to utilise a range of photographic skills to support our senior clinicians, multidisciplinary clinical teams, allied healthcare professionals by documenting the clinical presentation of patients' medical conditions, the effects of trauma, surgical intervention and therapeutic treatment for diagnostic, education and research purposes within numerous clinical environments including our brand new photographic studio.

Main duties of the job
To provide a clinical photography service to The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be working independently under their own initiative, and be responsible for the delivery of the Medical Illustration clinical photography service.
The post primarily requires an expert knowledge to provide visual material through the media discipline of photography.
Good organisational and interpersonal skills are essential.
A flexible approach to the working day will be required due to the frequent need to meet challenging appointments and urgent requests.

Job responsibilities
Clinical photography of patients on appropriate ward, clinic, outpatient locations and in controlled studio environment as part of on-going clinical assessment, diagnosis, education and research.
Clinical photography of intraoperative surgical procedures and associated surgical and anatomical specimens in operating theatre under sterile conditions and in close proximity.
Undertake clinical photography through correct interpretation of specific request instructions to ensure the subject matter has been captured accurately and to a high standard.
Use of variable lighting techniques within mobile and controlled studio environments to best demonstrate patients condition to full potential.
High level of knowledge of anatomy, terminology, medical conditions required to explain the process of patient photography, answer questions and demonstrate awareness of potentially sensitive and contentious issues.
Use of clear, informative and empathetic dialogue to gain patients agreement to participate in photographic procedures, allay any concerns and to ensure there is an understanding of the consequences and assessments of Gillick/Fraser Competency of minors by ensuring patients understand the process of the request, e.g. consent.
To be responsible for understanding all relevant issues regarding patient consent for illustrative recording and is able to provide advice about appropriate policy, techniques and image management to Trust staff.
Management and operation of professional industry standard image management software for downloading, processing and archiving clinical digital photographic images.
To participate in clinical research trials, working to agreed protocols and maintaining consistency and comparability of images and associated data.
Awareness of the need to process images with no enhancement, manipulation or alteration, being mindful of the consequences regarding patients treatment, taking into consideration potential implications for misdiagnosis and areas for litigation, e.g. medicolegal cases.
Image reproduction through use of camera and scanning equipment and export of radiological PACS images for use in book publications, journals, poster and lecture presentations.
Production of non-patient, PR and stock photography to support Trust communications, executive and Trust management teams.
Working jointly with Medical Illustration Manager to ensure photographic work maintains quality standards.
To be responsible for the use, care and maintenance of the department's camera, audio-visual equipment and accessories and to ensure that equipment is clean and kept in good order.
Maintain Statutory and Mandatory training as per Trust policy.
