An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new consultant post with a special interest in Knee Revision Surgery at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will become a highly valued member of our multi-disciplinary team, bringing your expertise and skills in orthopaedic procedures.
Our consultants have access to great facilities in a busy, patient focused, rewarding environment.
We perform high volumes of orthopaedic Arthroplasty surgery in our unit and our length of stay averages, for both hip and knee surgery, are significantly below 2 days and we are growing our same day discharge arthroplasty pathways with our enhanced recovery programme. We would welcome surgeons who are able to help to develop this and work with us.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for those patients referred to their care and will undertake clinics, pre-operative assessment, operating lists and ward rounds.

- Full GMC Registration with license to practice and with no restrictions on practice
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Trauma and Orthopaedics, via CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview CESR or European Community Rights
- Primary Medical Degree
- FRCS (Tr&Orth) (or Equivalent)
- Current ATLS Certification

Experience and specialist knowledge

- Currently practicing orthopaedic clinician
- All round orthopaedic experience to include significant primary hip and knee and appropriate revision knee experience and training
- Twelve-month post-specialist registration fellowship in arthroplasty surgery or evidence of acceptance on such a fellowship programme at time of application
- Demonstration of a reasonable knowledge of knee and hip arthroplasty plus evidence of independent practice in theatres and and outpatients for all levels of arthroplasty and revision knee arthroplasty.

- Understanding of principles of audit (including process, outcomes and change in practice)
- Evidence of recent audit within field of practice
