Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Paediatric Specialist Physiotherapist, Band 7, with an interest in supporting and further developing our paediatric orthopaedic services in collaboration with our consultants. An interest in DDH and CTEV is essential to support the departments current service provision. Previous experience in leading DDH and CTEV services, and working in a multidisciplinary team would be highly desirable. The post holder will be expected to have advanced clinical knowledge, preferably with previous clinical experience of Ponseti technique and Graf Hip screening, or a plan to complete level 1 & 2 Ponseti and Graf Ultrasound courses. We are keen to recruit an individual with ambition for continuous personal and professional development relevant to paediatric orthopaedics.
Main duties of the job
To support to the Consultant team with provision of orthopaedic outpatients clinics, as a competent and autonomous clinician, assessing and treating children across a range of common orthopaedic conditions including normal variants.
To support the consultants in the running of the Neuromuscular/Cerebral Palsy service according to the CPIPs guidelines, including clinical assessments, X-ray interpretation and data collection/input in line with these requirements, and facilitate coordination between the hospital and community services.
To work as an autonomous clinician who is professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including management of patients in your care.

To work with and support the paediatric multi-disciplinary team (MDT), led by the consultant paediatric orthopaedic surgeons in the Childrens Out Patient Department, to provide an effective and high quality orthopaedic service to children with a range of musculoskeletal conditions.
To further develop services based at RJAH under the direction of the consultants, which include physiotherapy led clinics and out patient physiotherapy care.
To assist in the development and organisation of the efficient and effective provision of a high quality orthopaedic/physiotherapy service for patients attending the Childrens Out Patient Department, with guidance from Team Leader and in collaboration with the other members of the MDT. To prioritise workload as required.
To attend network meetings, training sessions and to collect agreed data for audit of services.
To work autonomously, without direct supervision and be accountable for the efficient and effective provision of the highly specialised physiotherapy service to a complex group of patients.
To use highly advanced assessment and clinical reasoning skills and draw on knowledge of a range of specialist treatment options to meet the changing and complex needs of the patient group, and subsequently plan and deliver individual or group treatment programmes for these patients.
To provide specialist advice for and act as a source of expertise regarding the management of paediatric patients with orthopaedic and neurological conditions to other professionals including clinicians of a variety of disciplines inside and external to the Trust, and support the pathways between primary and secondary care.
To initiate and take responsibility for clinical audit, evidence based projects, evaluation and implementation of significant changes to working practice for the Physiotherapy management of paediatric patients within the out patient setting.
