Who we're looking for...

This is an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a Special Interest in Young Adult Hip and Reconstructive Surgery in this leading orthopaedic centre of excellence.

This is a new full-time post joining the 14 existing consultants in Arthroplasty Surgery.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a team player who will actively support the work of the Unit. Applicants will be able to demonstrate through their application a well-developed interest in arthroplasty surgery, plus a post-specialist registration fellowship in arthroplasty and/or Young Adult Hip Surgery (including Hip Arthroscopy and Open Hip Preservation Surgery).

Interested candidates will be listed on the Specialist Register for Trauma and Orthopaedics (or be within 6 months of being at the time of interview) and have completed an appropriate fellowship (or have a confirmed offer of a fellowship at the time of interview).

There will be an expectation for the postholder to develop a subspecialty interest in Young Adult Hip, Hip Arthroplasty and Open Hip Preservation Surgery over time, whilst delivering high quality elective primary hip replacement surgery predominantly.

This post comprises 8 PA for direct clinical care with 2 supporting professional activities (SPA).

The Arthroplasty firm, deliver very high volumes of primary and complex hip surgery and is one of the largest arthroplasty units in the UK, providing a comprehensive primary and revision service and an acute peri-prosthetic fracture service, supported by specialist orthopaedic anaesthesia, HDU facilities and an in-house bone and tissue bank.
