Main duties of the job

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusisatic, hard working person with a positive attitude who wishes to develop their passion for Information Technology into a rewarding career.

This is a full time apprentice post with one day per week spent offsite or online at an IT Training provider and gain industry recognised qualifications. Travel expenses will be provided when applicable. The successful candidate will also be given on the job training, and gain valuable knowledge and experience in the use of and configuration of computer hardware and mobile devices , learn about computer networking as well as helping with the troubleshooting and fixing of business and clinical applications through the hospital.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities1. The post holder is responsible for facilitating the RJAH IT Service Desk including resolution of routine issues and queries, over the phone support of both Microsoft Office and Clinical Systems, escalation and co-ordination of communications for IT issues and problems.2. To provide assistance to the IT Service Desk team in ensuring that support calls and requests are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with defined policies and procedures.3. To provide technical assistance with IT Projects, deploying robust PC and mobile device hardware and software solutions across the RJAH NHS Foundation Trust.4. Assist other IT teams in projects at an appropriate level for post, e.g. Gathering hardware and software configuration details Configuring and testing software and hardware Installation of new and replacement equipment5. Ensure the integrity of desktop/laptop security, escalating all breaches of security policies and procedures.6. Record all activities in line with IT procedures and work within agreed change control processes.7. Understand the Trusts key priorities and those of the IT department.8. Contribute to an effective team ethos.9. To keep up to date with all changes and new developments in Local and National NHS Information Management Standards.10. To support the implementation of the Trusts data security policy and ensure it is communicated to all users.11. The post holder will be required to manage the planning and organisation of own workload, including prioritisation.12. Regular visits to clinical areas to proactively maintain IT equipment and to liaise with staff regarding any operational concerns relating to relevant IT systems.13. Produce user guides that are easy to follow and understand for new IT technologies introduced within the Trust.14. Assist with the responsibility of the IT/Network cabinets housed on the hospital site, ensure they are maintained and left secure.15. The successful candidate will be required to work towards achievement of formal certifications which will be provided and it is expected of the apprentice that they will take the initiative and responsibility for their own learning.
