The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust's Pathology Centre are looking for a dynamic, caring, and enthusiastic Operational Leader to join our Pathology Team.
The successful applicant will be working closely with other members of the Pathology leadership team, primarily based at the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Telford, but working across our three hospital sites, to deliver a quality, patient-focused service. Pathology is a vibrant team, continually looking for ways to develop innovative ideas and ways of working, ensuring our services continue to match the rapid pace of growth in diagnostic advances.
The applicant will be qualified to degree level or equivalent, with demonstrable relevant experience.
Providing leadership and operational management support to the Pathology Centre Manager, the post-holder is accountable for the delivery of all diagnostics services provided through the CDC, ensuring efficient and effective management of all resources in order to deliver safe, high quality and effective patient care in an environment of continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
Providing leadership and operational management support to the Centre Manager, you must have current NHS experience with a strong focus on delivery and a desire for success. Working with the Clinical Director, Lead Scientist, and Centre Manager, the post-holder is responsible for formulating and implementing service delivery plans to achieve the operational and strategic objectives of the Centre.
You should have the skills to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and motivate others effectively.
This role requires values-based leadership of staff, including administrative and Phlebotomy teams. The individual will also be a key contributor to the overall operational, workforce and finance performance and strategy of the department, working closely with our other Pathology leaders and wider colleagues.
Accountable for service delivery, the post-holder will be required to liaise with service users, other agencies and stakeholders along with working closely with other teams to ensure efficient and effective management of all resources to deliver safe, high quality and effective patient care.
